Wow...this totally spoke to my heart!! Living in the heart of NYC, it is so difficult to slow down when the rest of the world is racing past! However, I am forcing myself to slow down these days & it has been making a difference! I found this interview very interesting & would LOVE to read the book! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to "meet" the author!
Have a blessed Sunday!
Hugs...Patricia in nycPatriciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09662206547720030431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34025405.post-39459495863477691112009-08-15T22:29:57.887-04:002009-08-15T22:29:57.887-04:00"I do think that reducing stress is a good mo..."I do think that reducing stress is a good move for moms particularly prone to irritability. I want to be a soft spoken, gentle mom all the time. I enjoyed meeting you, Karen, when you were here in Ocala. I have
finished "Confessions...", am reading "Finding Joy", and would love to continue to read along these lines!
Thanks for intoducing this author and for the give away!
Susansusannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34025405.post-47031140709473604282009-08-15T20:59:49.132-04:002009-08-15T20:59:49.132-04:00I'm intrigued to know what her catalyst for sl...I'm intrigued to know what her catalyst for slowing down was. I found that no matter how much I tried, my to-do list never got done. So I set limits for myself, handed out chores, and then took a deep breath and went to bed even though everything wasn't done then put it on my list for the next day. Eventually it gets done and everyone is a lot happier to not have a nagging mom! It doesn't always work, but for the most part it does.3 boys clubhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09565421551609779265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34025405.post-83973487813284395252009-08-15T19:17:22.550-04:002009-08-15T19:17:22.550-04:00Well, obviously, increased pace leaves less time f...Well, obviously, increased pace leaves less time for my thoughts to go heavenward and too many "to-dos" that pull me straight from rising to my day without time in the Word. But we're just starting a new level of stress and energy around here with a kindergartner, so I'd LOVE to learn some ways to slow down before we get going too fast!Kristinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11218129337672237684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34025405.post-34864032660642750762009-08-14T21:03:11.404-04:002009-08-14T21:03:11.404-04:00Tiredness contributes to irritability. I feel "I owe it to myself" to have time to do "my things" at the end of the day, which often translates to a much later night than I should be having - I suffer, and the kids do too, the next day!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07673593050554787413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34025405.post-1839485095135269182009-08-14T10:24:51.888-04:002009-08-14T10:24:51.888-04:00I definitely want to be living the 'slow life&...I definitely want to be living the 'slow life'. I think I just posted something about that recently. It's hard to achieve though. The 'slow life' needs to constantly re-evaluated for my family. If we're not careful, busy sneaks in. Usually, we discover we're too busy because I'm too cranky. This would definitely be a book for me.kmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02659183247879049382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34025405.post-30559135588970777942009-08-13T09:16:27.725-04:002009-08-13T09:16:27.725-04:00The topic of neglecting rest, especially the Sabba...The topic of neglecting rest, especially the Sabbath. I get more chores done and the kids play a lot, which I think is good for them. LOL They'll probably do sports but I'm really hoping that as they start school I don't get caught up in the fast-pace, the crazy pace, of sports, activities, etc.

Your books sounds great! When Ann brought it all back to the basics, when I slow down I will hear the voice of the Lord more clearly, experiencing all the Lord has to bless us in. My prayer is to experience more of the fruits of the Spirit and draw closer to the peace we only find in Him. There is SO much here I am interested in. But one thing I know for sure... if Mom aint happy - no one's happy! My depression has taught me to pace myself not try to do too many things in one day. If my level of anxiety gets too high everyone suffers - even the dog! ugh! ok... off I go. Karen, if I happen to win, I may not have internet access next Monday - so save it for me when I'm back over the weekend, K? =)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34025405.post-1701062880192271652009-08-12T08:49:55.729-04:002009-08-12T08:49:55.729-04:00Thanks for introducing your friend. The bike ride at the end though hit WAY too close to home. Even just last night I went about as a martyr cleaning up and giving out occasional little lectures with disdain and dismay...OUCH! (Read my post today for a specific example of how I often do this!LOL!) Slowing down? Yes! Yes, let's do that!luvmy4sonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10261302721883036680noreply@blogger.com
