Together in the Psalms

Shane has felt God calling her to "Unplug" and take a break from writing for a while, so What's on Your Mind '09? isn't officially running anymore. But I have so enjoyed the last couple of weeks together in the pslams with you that I decided to continue.
Today I want to do something a little different. (And I may do this again, if your responses tell me you like the idea.) I am going to write a portion of a psalm here and I would like you to read through it, asking God to speak to your heart. If there is a particular verse that stands out to you, please share about it in the comments.
Then - and I hope you'll do this whether you leave a comment, or not - write that verse down on a piece of paper and stick it in your pocket so you can refer back to it throughout your day.
Ask God to keep speaking to your heart!

5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from him.
6 He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.

Psalm 62:5-8

I love this passage! But my favorite verse is 5 for today. It goes right along with a part of my blog post too.

Sometimes I struggle with "God alone" and want that to include other people or things or dreams. But to find rest in God alone is the ultimate. And I so want to do that.

Have a great day! (And I can't wait to see your new blog design!)

"Find rest...in God alone..." This stood out...as it has been my only life line as of late. And I keep learning it again and again- to REST- not strive, not fret, not weary, but REST in God alone...not my accomplishments, not words from others, not my emotions that are up and down but in Him...in God alone. See I told you it struck a cord. Blessings sweet sister. I love this portion of scripture.

Karen, my favourite is verse 5.
5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;my hope comes from him.

You made me to testify today the much procastinated testimony on how He longs to liberate us. Thanks.

I love in verse 8.....Pour out your hearts to Him.
I can tend to keep things bottled up and try and deal with them later, but I reminded that He knows my heart already and it's ok to pour it all out to Him.

Well...this is sooooo timely for me as I sit here with my sick little one who has not slept in 2 nights (nor have I) & despite being sick has the energy of 5 children (!)...just this morning I said, "Oh Lord, please give me the strength to get through this...I am exhausted, I need sleep" & you know what I heard whispered to me?
"Rest in me"...and now YOUR post!

Love ya, girl!!

Trust in Him at all times, pour out your hearts to Him! I love that. And I need to trust more.

As a girl who feels quite 'shaken' today...I am choosing to repeat this phrase over and over in my heart and mind:

"I will NOT be shaken"

not because I can work up the strength to stay still but because of my God who will plant me firmly inside His loving arms...thank you for this great heart lesson today!

My salvation and my honor depend on Him......Over the course of my life I have lived in such ways that were not conducive to bringing anyone honor--especially me. If I am to have honor, He must bring it to me. He is the lifter of my head and when He lifts your head, you have honor.
