Tuesday in the Psalms

Psalm 30

1 I will exalt you, O LORD,
for you lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
2 O LORD my God, I called to you for help
and you healed me.
3 O LORD, you brought me up from the grave;
you spared me from going down into the pit.

4 Sing to the LORD, you saints of his;
praise his holy name.
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may remain for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

6 When I felt secure, I said,
"I will never be shaken."
7 O LORD, when you favored me,
you made my mountain stand firm;
but when you hid your face,
I was dismayed.

8 To you, O LORD, I called;
to the Lord I cried for mercy:
9 "What gain is there in my destruction
in my going down into the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me;
O LORD, be my help."

11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.

Which of these verses particularly speaks to your heart today? How???
I hope you'll write it down and carry it with you in your pocket - taking time to remember it throughout the day.

This speaks to me because I am forever wondering, in the midst of, how trials will glorify God.

Leslie - Enjoy the dance!

Larie - "In the midst of" is a hard place to be. But God is still good, and we can trust Him. Amen?

Karen,

This was a Psalm that I memorized a couple of years ago. It is such a powerful psalm and I love it.

Verse 6 speaks especially to me. It speaks of how we can walk in pride, feeling oh so secure in ourselves. But, when we sense God turn away from us because of our pride, we feel devastated. I have so been there! Never want to go back.

Weeping remains for the night, but rejoicing comes with the morning.
I wrote this verse down before and I was reminded of it right away when I read this. So, I'm writing it down again this morning. It's such a powerful reminder that He won't leave me in my struggle, my complete joy IS coming!

Thankful for all the times He has yanked me out of the pit, kept me from falling in and re-directed my path...I sure do love Him!

Leah - I agree. This psalm is one which I went through "one verse at a time, one day at a time" and I simply love it. I guess because of going through it that way, EACH of the verses is significant to me.

Patricia - I'll sing with you!

O Mom - That's right. He will NEVER leave you.

Nichole - And I sure am glad He has directed each of our paths, such that they have intersected.

The last line stood out to me. I want to give thanks like that and know it's something I could do better. :-) Thanks for the excerpt!

Jessica - I think we could all to better at giving thanks - for everything.
Heard an interview recently with a man who wrote a book about giving thanks and was very moved to realized how much it delights God's heart when we stop to thank Him.
And how much it disappoints when we don't.
Yes. Let's remember to give Him thanks forever!
