Yesterday I was amused by boys being boys, and today I'm grinning because of girly things.
That would be my daughter.
Every year her school has a Winter Wonderland Dance before Christmas break, and she has already started thinking about what she wants to wear next year. She really likes one of the shirts I wear when I speak (this one) and she asked me a few days ago if she could wear it to the Winder Wonderland Dance next year. I thought it was cute that she was thinking so far ahead and told her that, Yes, she could borrow it.
Then Monday she asked me what I usually wear with that shirt and I told her I wear black or gray slacks. But she wondered if I thought a black skirt would look good with it, and I said yes.
"In fact," I told her, "I have a black skirt you could wear if you'd like to."
So she tried on the entire outfit Monday night and, convinced that she looked cute, she asked if she could borrow for the Dance next December. Of course, I said she could.
And her brother wanted to know, "Why are you thinking about what you're going to wear already?"
My husband and I smiled at him and said, "That's just what girls do."
And thinking not soooo far ahead, she is also contemplating what to wear on the last day of school this year.
She wants to dress up and has been going through my closet looking for something nice enough, that isn't too nice, that fits her perfectly, and that suits her taste.
No luck.
But I think she may just come back to one option.
We'll see.
Anyway, for as much as I am amused at her desire to "dress up" in my clothes, the thing that really has me giggling is the bigger picture of her plan. Before she will officially plan to wear something dressy to school, she MUST call and recruit at least two of her friends to also get dressy.
Because, that's what girls do, you know???

Heheee! That's so funny. My younger sister is like that. She used to go through three different outfits a day. :-)
And a hope chest is a little girl planning on what she will have and wear and need for her wedding day! I only get glimpses into this strange world of girliness now and then because of my son's girlfriend! (Prom pictures on Friday) I smile. I barely remember being that way! I have been in an all man's world for so long now! Thanks for sharing your precious daughter's heart! What a blessing she must be to you.
At least she's prepared and not a procrastinator:)
Adorable! Girls are indeed girls.
Oh yes, I do know how girls are! My oldest is a 100% girly girl :) I love the connection all 4 of my girls and I have when we have "girl talk," and go shopping, share earrings, etc. What fun!
How great that you are there for her like that. Not all girls have a mom that would share in these things with them. Good for you!
About three weeks ago a package came to the door and my husband opened it to find three shirts for 4th of July and he began to laugh at me and telling me that it was only the begining of May..... yes, I too plan ahead and that is just what girls do! lol :-)
Yes, I have had the "what are you going to wear?" conversation many times with my friends!

Oh that is just too funny!
Being a mom of 2 boys, I'm just happy on the days that they don't try to get away with wearing the same thing 2 days in a row.
So sweet and funny! I have one of each and am amazed every day at their differences. My daughter picks up a magic wand and turns me into a princess. My son picks up the same wand and whacks me over the head. :-)
No, I did not know that, however I should know that as I WAS a girl! :)
Thanks for the life lesson... just hope I remember in 10 years when Audrey is doing this. :)
You ever coming to Minnesota? Its lovely this time of year! :)
God bless-
Amanda
