I just finished reading the book of Job. If you have never read it, or just haven't read it in a while, I would recommend going through it. My reading plan took me through it in 12 days and I thought that was a good pace.
I was surprised by the variety of emotions that welled up in me as I read - sometimes feeling sorry for Job, and sometimes feeling admiration for him. I felt defensive for God because He seemed so misunderstood. Elihu really irritated me with his attitude and big mouth. And then God spoke, and fear was stricken in me.
In the end, Job spoke with understanding and humility and I admired him again.
Then Job replied to the LORD:
"I know that you can do all things;
no plan of yours can be thwarted.
You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?'
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.
"You said, 'Listen now, and I will speak;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.'
My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
Therefore I despise myself
and repent in dust and ashes."
Job 42:1-6
God's WORD is amazing, and I pray you are finding time to join Him in it!
May His love cover you today. See you back here Monday!

I absolutely love the book of Job...there are some very sobering thoughts in it...moments where God speaks and what He says it not easy to swallow...how He creates calamity. Long ago when I read through it the first time it changed my image of God...I knew I needed to see God for Whom He has revealed Himself to be. And when I was done reading Job I had a BIGGER God...surprisingly I did not see Him as less compassionate...but I DID understand that HE IS GOD...and He will do what He will do...and who am I? I love Job's humility too. Have a great day sweet sister!
"My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you" Love that line!!! Amen!
I haven't read Job as a whole in quite a while. I'll have to do that sometime soon. Thanks Karen, and have a wonderful weekend!
Have you ever read the trade book or done the study entitled "Job" by Charles Swindoll? It is knock your socks off fantastic. I've read the book and done the study a couple of times. It is a must do for the days in which we live.
