This Week's WORD

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD.
Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the best from the land;
but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword."
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Isaiah 1:18-20
I started Isaiah this week, and I know things are going to be difficult for the Israelites in this book. But right away I am drawn to the tenderness of God.

Come now, let us reason together.

Can you hear it?

It is His desire for us to be clean before Him and in a right relationship with Him. And I know all the trouble which is about to come to the Israelites in this book is for the purpose of bringing them back to God.
Oh, the wonderful, terrifying work He has done (Think of Jesus, on the cross.) so that we might be united with Him.

Come now, let us reason together.

Yes, Lord. I come.

May the peace of Christ rest upon you this weekend. I'll see you back here Monday.

"If you are willing and obedient,"

that if should be in italics, it's what stood out for me. It lets me know that I have a responsibility in receiving the best.

I have been thinking for a while now that Isaiah will be the next book that I will study. I am very drawn to it. Perhaps you just got me started on my study!!

amanda at i am mommy introduced me to you (i had an especially hard day of sobbing over my children. and she is one of the most encouraging people i have ever met through blogger world--in life in general!) anyway, i just started reading isaiah myself this week. in fact yesterday, i started over. i was in chapter 46 or something and decided it was time for me to start over and start taking notes. in the first chapter myself, i noticed how God was PLEADING with the israelites to love him. that he is frustrated and angry and begging them to follow him. and then in response to their disobedience, not only does his discipline them, but his plan is to discipline them so that they are like they were in the past by trusting in Him more. God is so cool, and i can so relate with the pleading with His children. i did that just this Wednesday with His children who have been placed in my care. thanks for your thoughts.
