This Week's WORD

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Luke 6:38

When I read these words yesterday morning, after I was very frustrated with both of my sons - for forgetting things, and dawdling, and expecting me to clean up the mess - I wondered, How can I measure out grace to them generously, without also enabling them to shirk off responsibility?
Received some great ideas from Facebook friends.
Had a good conversation with my mentor.

I have received so much grace from God, and I want to measure it out to my children generously. Praying He will lead me to train them with strength and grace.

And I pray this for you, too, my friend!

May the peace of Christ reign in you this weekend. See you back here Monday!

*****Update on Allie: The Blain's still need prayer. Please click here to visit Allie's Caring Bridge site to see their requests.

Were you peeking in on our house last night? Oh, I needed these words (uh, my boys think so too). I am writing them down RIGHT NOW. Thanks for a great thought as I start the weekend!

Thanks for the link to Allie's site.
So, forgetful doesn't fade as they get older? That stinks. :-)

Denise - Oh yeah! It's this really neat technology called Motherhood. Allows me to see into other mom's homes and know I am not alone. *grin*
Have a great weekend!

Jessica - Sorry to say, forgetfulness is still alive and well! But, to be fair, I'm forgetful, too.
Need to find a way to convince my boys to make notes or lists...That's the only way I don't forget half of what I need to do each day!

Karen,

If only I could remember to give as much grace as I have been given. I fail so often, but thankfully that abundant supply to me never fails.

Have a blessed weekend.

There is just so much meaning in those first few words;
Give and it will be given to you....
God's ways are not our own and I so needed that reminder this morning.
Thank you :)

you mean it's not up to us EXACTLY to change our children?
You mean that's YHWH's job?
Good to remember! :)
Thanks!

Leah - You and me, both! Yes. So thankful for His perfect and patient grace.

O Mom - That's right. His ways are not our own. And I'm thankful for that, too. Cuz if He took HIs cues from me? That would not be good!

Gianna - Yes! That's a relief, isn't it? Just wish I had the ability He has to see that they're really going to "turn out" OK.
But since I don't, I have to trust.

Karen you are such a joy and comfort. Thank you for being you. I read your post and was reminded of an old hymn my grandmother used to sing. How I loved it! And I had forgotten it until now. So, thank you! Have a blessed weekend, dear friend.

Angie - Thank YOU. And now I'm wondering what that hymn was. I am a contemprary girl, but I do love some good old hymns!

Still praying for Allie.

I can't tell you how many times in my life I have thought that I was generous, or fair, or "full of grace", only to have God show me, to my utter disappointment, that I still have a looooong way to go.

Have a great weekend!

Your mother's heart is always looking for ways to show your children love and grace...they are blessed!

Edie - Thanks. She still needs our prayers.
We all have a long way to go. But God knows how to get us there!

Leslie - So am I!

Grace is so easy to receive, yet so hard for me to remember to give. Thanks for the beautiful post!
