...as the LORD commanded Moses.
Exodus 39:1,5,7,21,26,29,31 and 40:32
I finished reading Exodus this week and couldn't help but notice as I read the final two chapters that the Israelites did everything to build the temple "as the LORD commanded Moses." There were the eight statements referenced above, and ten others in chapters 39 and 40 that used slightly different words, but all said the same thing.
Yes. Eighteen times in two chapters it is recorded that the Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded.
Coming off of several chapters of the same people grumbling about what God was doing and where Moses was leading, this obedience seems pretty remarkable to me. And since He bothered to mention it eighteen times, I think the obedience was also pleasing to God.
Makes me wonder what my life would look like written out. How many times could it be written that I did "just as the LORD commanded"?
Something to think about this weekend!

That certainly is something to think about.
Cool blog!
Hello again. Your post arises a thankfulness in my heart. I am thankful that because of Jesus, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, it is no longer dependent on me to figure out HOW to be obedient "every" time.
But, it is the work of the Spirit in me that creates obedience!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Jesus!
Great thought provoking post!
have a great day!
It is an interesting thought. I think obedience to God is way more important than what many churches teach. One of the verses I always am remembering is "obedience is better than sacrifice". I try to remember the obedience thing when I feel like being rude to hubby. LOL! Then it's like, okay Jessie, God wants you to be respectful, he commands you to be respectful. LOL
Tough stuff, sometimes.
I don't think mine would say "as the LORD commanded." Instead I could see it saying, "as the LORD mercifully chastised her to do."
This is why, Karen, there is not a book of "Larie" in the Bible!
smooches,
Larie
It is somehow related to my Googleconnect. When I try to post a comment after bringing up a new window from my dashboard it does it. When I went directly here...well here I am! Thanks for your visit and indulgence in my mommy moment! LOL!
Makes me wonder how often I resemble the grumbling Israelites vs. the obedient ones?
That certainly has me thinking!
Hey I've missed you. I'm trying to get back to visiting my friends again.
Hope you're doing well!
So this June we are taking a trip to Iowa...in the car...from Virginia. 18 hours in the car, one way. I am bringing a CD player and my bible on CD and I am going to be catching up on my reading. Yes, I am! I have nto given up...just slipped up some. But I am getting back up.
Thanks for encouraging me and not letting me give up. :-)
So true, so true. I wish I had that "yes lord" spirit. =)
By the way - I'll be hosting W.O.W. - week of worry - instead of what's on your mind this week!
And a great way to think about.
