This Week's WORD

Listen, my son, to your father's instruction
and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
They will be a garland to grace your head
and a chain to adorn your neck...

My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you prosperity.

Proverbs 1:8-9 and 3:1-2

I have made it to Proverbs in my read-thru-the-Bible program, and God is truly impressing me with a desire to see my children grow in wisdom.
Oh, how I wish now that I would have listened to my parents' instruction when I was a child.
Oh, how I long for my children to have receptive hearts!

Father of mercy, Source of wisdom, Ruler of our hearts please hear my prayer. Lord, we are unable to change our children's hearts. We are unable to force them to listen and receive instruction. We are in desperate need of Your grace.
Please work in the hearts of our children. Please put in them a desire to be wise, to listen to instruction and accept our teaching. Lord, please work through us - Your children - as we seek to raise our children in Your ways.

I wish I'd listened to my parents as well, but I didn't because of course "they didn't know what they were talking about."

Now, with children of my own, I know that that aburb thinking was just ignorant of me.

I apologize to my parents every now and then, but they just laugh at me...but it's all in love, I know!

smooches,
Larie

What a true heart felt prayer to pour over I children. Our faith comes from God, as well as, everything. So why would we not ask our heavenly Father to give our kids a listening heart and receive the instruction of their father and mother. Great reminder and I will seek the Lord in this today!

Oh me too, me too! Yes Lord, give them the desire to know you intimately and follow all of you ways. May their hearts long for more of you. Amen Karen!

Karen,

I am so behind in blog reading as my mom has been in the hospital this week.

I, too, did a few things that my parents would have instructed me not to do. So thankful, however, for their love and that of my heavenly Father. Forgiveness is an amazing thing!!

Beautiful prayer. I'm adding adult children and grand children to this.

Blessings to you dear friend.
