Write Your Own Psalm, Day One - My Safe Place

I am praying for you as you begin writing your psalm. Perhaps this is something you will want to share on your blog. If so, that's great. Go for it! But my greater desire is that you take this opportunity to enter into deeper fellowship with God - who is your Safe Place, who loves you so much, who wants you to pour your heart out to Him.
If you don't think you're a "good writer," please don't let that hold you back from writing your psalm. Let God love you through the process and just watch for Him to grow your faith!
I pray His blessing on you today.

This is going to be great! Thanks for your leadership! I have a "sticky note" post on my blog which tells readers about this teaching all week.

Karen,
This is awesome. I loved your video...if you're not a speaker, you should be.

Recently I wrote a free verse poem inspired by Psalm 42 that came out more like a Psalm. It's kind of funny I came across your site just a few weeks later. (Or is it a God thing?)

Looking forward to the next part.

Karen,
Very beautiful! My "silly" nature was silenced as I watched your video, and as God spoke to my heart.

As this post provokes words for my Psalm, I sit in complete "nakedness" before my God, feeling overwhelmed at the intimacy I am beginning to feel. I thought of it as a cool writing adventure, but suddenly, it seems very personal, and very "real" as if I am stepping into the shoes of David, and bearing my soul to the One who created me.

Wow...that's all I can say. Thank you for prompting this journey with the Lord...I don't think I'll be the same after writing it.

Thanks! BTW, do your kids think I'm cool yet??? lol (I couldn't resist; it was getting too intense in here!)

Hey Karen! I wrote a Psalm a few months ago and posted it on my blog. It was based on one form of the Hebrew poetry styles. It was a great experience. Great encouragement!

Hi Karen,
I'm catching up on my blog reading today and just listened to this post. I love the Psalm you are exploring and found your thougths on making it your own very heart warming. I too have found Psalm 31to be a safe place to run to and have written about it in the past. I linked it to my name above, but wanted to share that I love the part that says 'bow down your ear to me'. What a great image of our Father, who desires such intimacy that we can whisper our fears and concerns into His ear without fear of judgment or rejection.

Off to read some more! I have a week of reading to catch up with!
