That's Where I Draw the Line

So, Wednesday evening I was making dinner, watching the clock and wondering when Joshua was going to get home from fishing with his friends. The next thing I knew, he was walking in the door and went through the kitchen holding a ziploc bag full of water.
And a fish.
I don't know where I figured he was going with it. I mean, this wasn't the first time he's come into the house with a critter. So I just didn't give it much thought.

Until...

He came back into the kitchen and said, "The fish is going to live in our toilet temporarily."

I think I might have changed colors. I looked at him and proclaimed, "Oh, no it isn't!" I'll let a Polyphemus moth hang out on the curtains. It's fine with me to have a bunny in a cage in the living room. I'm even OK with little snakes - as long as they stay in Joshua's room.

But I will NOT have a live fish swimming in the toilet. Even if it's temporary.

That's where I draw the line.

Ya know? Come to think of it, I don't know where he ended up putting that thing. Perhaps I should go check that out!

LOL! What a hoot! Love ya! Boys will be boys. At least I have found that to be true.

LOL! Because the toilet makes the most sense, of course, until someone else flushes it.

Actually, is that what happened to the fish?

Hilarious!! What a great environment you are providing him, not only because you DO draw the line (because that's important) but, also that he thought he MIGHT could get away with it, that it was worth a try. So sweet!!!

LOL Oh dear!! Where could it be? Be careful before you turn on your garbage disposer...

I have been thinking about getting my kids a fish. Wonder if it would get old pretty quickly? Probably!~ :)

Gotta say life is never boring though...lol...what would we {girls} do without them!!?? Speaking of fish, my hubby and manchild went on a fishing trip this morning. Does this mean I should do something about our toilets in the meantime..."grin"??

Blessings to everyone...

Leslie - And you would know! *grin*

Lynn - Seriously, Joshua told me he was going to flush it. And I yelled, "NO!!!" I was afraid of what would happen to the plumbing (It was NOT a small fish.) and didn't even want to think of 'fishing' that thing out of the drain.
Then I heard the flush.
And Joshua came out grinning. Said he just had to flush the toilet. To scare me.
Funny kid.

Maria - So appreciate your perspective. *big grin*

Amanda - I asked him. The fish is OUTSIDE, in a bucket. *whew!*

Debby Ann - Lock them! LOL!

Mari - He's outside. And that's here he'll stay!

Patricia - Cute. Yep. That's exactly what I was thinking. *wink*

Yeah, that settles it.... God blessed me with a daughter for a reason...

You are WAY more tolerant of critters than I am! :o)

Nichole - You've got that right! LOL

Jodi - The funny thing is, I just stepped out onto the deck and saw Mr. Fish. He's, uh, floating in a little bucket right now.
Maybe if I'd let him swim in the toilet...But I'm not THAT tolerant. *wink*

LOL...if the fish was living in the toilet, it would be just a matter of time before he made a trip to the sea.

KM - Have you been watching too much Finding Nemo??? *grin*

That is just AWESOME! Go Joshua! As a mother, I am totally on your side (and really living in the toilet would most likely KILL the fish anyway--don't ask me how I would know this!), but he gets 4000 points for being so creative! That is HILARIOUS!!! HILARIOUS! (as are you!) Well, there you have it. He's just like his mama!

Gianna - I can't help myself.
How would you know this???
*mischievous grin*

Gotta love his ingenuity! LOL!!!
Never a dull moment at your house. :D

I am curious where he ended up putting the fish. You really are used to having boys around cause I would have followed him in the bathroom from the get go to make sure he took it out of the toilet and to see where he planned to put it. Then I would have provided the proper habitat and living quarters myself I'm sure. LOL!

Maybe he decided to flush it.

Okay I just read all your comments and found out what happened to Mr Limpet. Poor guy. So what's for dinner at your house tonight? *wink*

Karen Hossink said...

Edie - Aren't YOU the funny one! LOL
No. I did not fix Mr. Fish for dinner. Ewww!
Fish is right up there with coffee on my list of things.I.do.not.like.

You're absolutely right. Never a dull moment at my house.
But I like it that way.
Usually. *wink*

In college, Chris--with the help of my roommate--snuck a goldfish into our toilet and I had not idea what to do except to scream and run to our neighbor's bathroom and leave it there to eventually die. Which made it quite easy to dispose of, I suppose!

Gianna -heehee Thanks for the explanation. *grin*

Angie - Yep. Floating in a little container on the deck. LOL!
